Created in 2018, the Normandie Maritime Association's mission is the promotion, development and coordination of the regional maritime and river economy.

This economy represents 63,330 jobs in Normandy, or 5.4% of total employment. This proportion is almost double that of the rest of France, showing the weight of maritime and river activity in the regional economic panorama.

Its major assets:

- 34 ports, including Le Havre, France's leading port for international trade, and Rouen, Europe's leading cereal export port.

- France's leading source of renewable marine energy in the form of offshore wind power and tidal power.

- The 2nd French region for sea fishing and the 1st region for shellfish fishing and shellfish farming, with a seafood processing sector that is at the forefront of the national scene.

- More than 13,000 places for pleasure craft afloat, i.e. 8% of the national supply and more than 100,000 registered units, i.e. 10% of the national fleet.

Normandie Maritime is one of the twelve strategic economic sectors resulting from the new regional sector policy initiated in 2016. The Association aims to create synergies between the sector's players, to strengthen their competitiveness and increase their visibility, particularly in high-potential areas not covered by existing sectors.

Normandie Maritime's scope is extremely broad and covers three main areas: shipbuilding, ship repair and ship breaking, maritime services and works, and yachting. The sector deploys its actions around four main areas:

- The structuring of the naval construction, repair and dismantling offer.

- The organization of maritime services and works for ships in ports, and for companies to meet new markets.

- The improvement of the quality of services for boaters, development of boating through the development of coastal tourism.

- The organization of activities, communication, performance improvement, promotion of employment and training, participation in trade fairs in France and abroad, and support for the emergence of innovation, particularly digital.

Normandie Maritime also supports the diversification of activities by facilitating the creation of inter-company groupings around the value chain and markets related to maritime activities.

The association also works closely with other regional sectors (energy, digital, logistics, etc.) at the intersection of the activities they share with them (blue economy). This collaboration should lead to the emergence of important cross-cutting actions.

Finally, Normandie Maritime advises local authorities in their initiatives to develop port infrastructures in the region.
