2Zero partnership : towards zero emission road transport by 2050

To achieve the ambitious goals of the Green Deal, the “Towards zero-emission road transport” (2Zero) partnership will take over from the European Green Vehicle Initiative (EGVI) for the period 2021-2027, with calls for proposals published as early as next year. 

Approach

The ambition of the partnership is to move from a vehicle approach to a system approach. It will take into account all layers of research and innovation activities : technologies, process, operation, innovative business models, and cover : 

• all vehicles (two-wheelers, cars, vans, buses, trucks...) 
• all applications and especially integrations in all areas: urban, peripheral, rural, etc.
• will place emphasis on market deployment, not just research

Topics

The following topics should be covered :

• Road vehicles technologies
• Optimized use of carbon neutral (non-fossil) fuels in highly electrified powertrains
• LCA analyses for technologies, innovative concepts and functions
• Safety issues related to clean vehicles technologies
• Innovative charging solutions and integration of EVs to the grid
• Zero impact logistic operations
• Seamless integration of clean vehicles into the overall transport system as well as new system-oriented services
• Maximising the benefit of digital technologies for a carbon-neutral road transport system
• Non technologies activities

This new partnership will obviously maintain close relations with other partnerships in order to avoid duplication and ensure the integration of the technologies developed: Batteries, Clean Hydrogen, Key Digital Technologies, but also CCAM, DUT... etc.

Results from road transport research in H2020

Since then, you can read the report concerning the results from road transport research in H2020 projects. It was issued after the third such European Conference around the European Road Transport Advisory Council (ERTRAC) and the European Commission, represented by DG RTD, DG MOVE  and the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA).

Participants were informed about the results of the SKILLFUL project of which Mov'eo was a partner. This project was aimed at identifying the skills and competences needed by the Transport workforce of the future and define the training methods and tools to meet them.
